Day 4 - Bujuka Hut (3977m to 4541)
We will travel through more bogs and ascend the steep slopes west of the lake through the magnificent Groundsel Gully before arriving at the 4372-meter-high Scott-Elliott Pass after leaving Bujuku Hut, where we will spend the night. At the head of the gully, where the route splits, we'll use a metal ladder to get over an extremely steep section. Elena Hut and Mount Stanley are located on the right side of the steep trail that crosses large rocks. The track on the left leads to the Lakes Kitandara. We will cross three glaciers, slick rocks, ice, and sections that are fully exposed on both sides throughout this incredibly difficult climb. Keep in mind that only technically proficient and physically fit climbers should attempt this route! Once we cross Stanley Plateau and arrive at the glaciers, we will continue our ascent. Lastly, once we've adjusted to the altitude, we'll carry on in the very cold struggle to the top of Rwenzoris' tallest peak, Margherita. Extreme weather and altitude sickness will prevent some people from reaching the top of Margherita. Don't let me down, please! When it's time to turn around, we'll enjoy breathtaking vistas as we make our way back through the Scott-Elliot pass. We will then go through an alpine zone with jagged boulders and scarce flora before continuing our journey to Kitandara Lakes. We are going to stay at the hut for dinner and the night.
